What Is Family Dentistry?
Our team treats you like family! But family dentistry is much more than that. Our office is a comprehensive family office, which means we offer pediatric dentistry, general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and restorative dentistry. The oral health of all of your family can be treated in one place.
We prioritize scheduling families close together, especially if you have multiple children that need to be seen. We are here to serve you and make it easy to do so with flexible scheduling. Just make sure to tell us if you want multiple family members to be scheduled on the same day and we will try to accommodate you.
Comprehensive Care
Improve Your Health
A regular visit, periodontal care, or a root canal can treat or prevent an infection or permanent damage to your oral health. We focus on preventing oral health mishaps with regular visits.
Improve Your Habits
We offer coaching for the whole family, so they can learn how to take care of their teeth when they aren’t in the dentist’s chair.
Improve Your Smile
Our comprehensive dentistry offers many treatments that improve the cosmetics of your smile. While your kids are receiving cleanings, you could be seen for a teeth whitening session.
Comprehensive Care Saves Your Family Time and Money
Part of comprehensive care is preventing the escalation of dental issues. If we are able to mitigate dental damage, we can often avoid costly treatments oriented around restoring your health or fixing cosmetic damage. Our comprehensive treatments make it easier than ever to be seen in our office for a quick fix or additional checkup.
We have all the tools to keep your oral health in the best shape possible.
Visit One Office for Every Need
We save you time by suggesting treatments and helping you find the right doctors for the treatments. Our custom treatment plans also combine treatments into one visit.
You won’t have to find another office for your dental treatments either! You can visit us for each treatment you need for each family member you have. No juggling appointments or rides to multiple places.
Our Family Dentistry Offerings
Patient Education
Teaching everyone, of every age, how to treat their teeth with kindness is an essential part of family dentistry. We take the time during each visit to help our visitors learn about their teeth and how to care for them.
Drs. AnneMarie and Mark Benage have a trained eye, so they can see dental issues that you may be struggling with. They can give you personalized recommendations to help you fix the issue before dental intervention is needed.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Many teenagers and young adults need to have their wisdom teeth removed to keep their smiles pain-free and free from damage. Adults may find that they also need to have their wisdom teeth removed if they are causing issues.
We offer wisdom teeth removal for very affordable rates! Our packages include sedation and vary based on how many teeth you need to be removed. Dr. Mark Benage loves doing wisdom teeth removals and makes it easier for you to recover with our office’s advanced technology.
Pediatric Dentistry
Pediatric dentistry is one of the most essential parts of family dentistry. Starting early helps children keep healthy children and adult teeth.
Our pediatric dentistry makes dental care for your children easier than ever. Our comprehensive dentistry covers childhood dentistry and treatments too. From preventative care to orthodontics, we make dental care for your children a pleasant experience.
Pregnancy Dental Care
Pregnant people are at much higher risk for tooth damage and decay throughout their pregnancy. Frequent dental visits can help minimize the effects of this life change.
- Hormonal Changes | Pregnancy hormones can decrease your oral health’s capacity to fight off disease and infection. Regular dental visits help manage the effects of these changes.
- Reflux Increase | Many pregnant people experience morning sickness and increased acid reflux, which can slowly erode teeth enamel and the strength of your teeth.
- Diet Differences | Pregnant people may eat more frequently during pregnancy, which can affect dental health. Dental visits help your teeth adjust to these sudden changes.
Preventative dental care is important for people of all ages and is one more way that expecting parents can keep themselves—and their little ones—safe and healthy.
Make Technology Part of Your Family Visits
While the word “technology” sounds all high-tech, and maybe even unfriendly, technology can actually help your family feel more comfortable and relaxed.
Here is some technology that can be part of family dentistry care, to help you feel right at home:
- Sedation Dentistry | If you or a child are nervous about a dental visit, we can use laughing gas (nitrous oxide) to relax you, or you can opt for IV sedation.
- Intraoral Scanners | These scanners are placed in your mouth for mere seconds, and can be used on adults or children to take detailed scans of your teeth.
- Cone Beam Computed Tomography | This gives us a 3D look at your smile, helping us notice cavities, and misaligned teeth, and evaluate your jawbone health.
Benage Dental Care Treats You Like Family
Dr. AnneMarie and Dr. Mark have a family of their own! Together they are parents of four children. They understand the importance of flexible scheduling and care that meets the diverse needs of each and every family member. If we wouldn’t recommend something to a family member or treat our child with it, we will not recommend those treatments to you.
When you come to Benage Dental Care, our excitement to have families at our practice along with compassionate care will truly help you feel like you are part of our family.
What is the difference between family dentistry and general dentistry?
General dentistry treats individuals, and family dentistry treats families. They often offer the same treatments, especially at a comprehensive clinic such as Benage Dental Care.
A family dentist will always welcome children and may offer specialized pediatric dentistry beyond checkups.
Is sedation dentistry safe for children and teenagers?
Certain kinds of sedation dentistry are completely safe for children and teenagers. We recommend trying laughing gas first. Teenagers can use oral sedation if necessary.
How often should my family visit the dentist?
We recommend visiting Benage Dental Care or your local family dentist at least twice a year, or once every 6 months. If you have certain medical conditions such as diabetes or are expecting, visiting us more often is a great idea.
Aside from the standard procedures, there are some additional cases we can address at Benage Dental Care. Though they are less common, it is vital to handle these problems soon after they arise.
