Tooth Gaps
Many patients come to our office with tooth gaps caused by injuries or genetics. Tooth gaps can make it difficult to digest food and increase the risk of damaged teeth.
Our clear aligners are able to slowly shift your teeth together by providing you with gradually tightening aligners. This process is practically painless and will dramatically change your look!
Uneven Teeth
Have you ever felt like crooked teeth held you back socially or physically? Outside of cosmetic concerns, crooked teeth can wear on your gums and tooth enamel.
Our compassionate team at Benage Dental Care is happy to address your family’s struggles with uneven teeth using our clear aligners. These aligners have been tried and tested to improve overall appearance and well-being!
Repairing Overbites and Underbites
The position of your bite can easily affect your quality of life. When your top teeth protrude over your bottom teeth, it’s called an overbite. When your top teeth protrude in front of your bottom teeth, it’s called an underbite.
Underbites and underbites jawpain, damage your speech or increse the risk of gum disease. SureSmile® aligners can help adjust the alignment of your teeth to help reduce any potential health risks.
Overlapping Teeth
One orthodontic concern that many patients are unaware of is the effects of overlapping teeth. Overlapping teeth can significantly influence your facial structure and, in turn, your overall look.
Teeth that are tucked in or over another tooth also make it difficult to brush and floss properly, increasing the risk of cavities. SureSmile® clear aligners can move and adjust your teeth to fit your smile.
Refresh Your Smile Fast
One of the first questions patients frequently ask us when starting an orthodontic treatment is how long the treatment will take. Though treatment times vary widely depending on the patient, SureSmile® aligners can treat misalignment in about six months on average. Treatment time, however, can span from 6 months to two years.
Unlock the convenience and comfort of SureSmile® clear aligners at Benage Dental Care. Our dedicated team is committed to providing you with exceptional orthodontic care in the Johnson County area. Book an appointment today to start your journey towards a straighter, more confident smile.

Clear Aligners for All Ages
Our family-oriented dentistry is happy to help all patients with their orthodontic needs. Our clinic has helped align smiles of all ages.
Because patients should have their adult teeth before beginning alignment, we usually recommend that young patients start their orthodontic treatment between the ages of 10–14 years old. Patients in this age range tend to have a faster treatment time. Our dentists can better pinpoint a specific time range for treatment during regular dental cleanings.
Now your children can have a discrete way to straighten their smile too.

Convenient and Removable
SureSmile® aligners are removable, allowing you to maintain optimal oral hygiene and enjoy your favorite foods without restrictions. The convenience of removing the aligners makes it easier to brush, floss, and clean your teeth and aligners.
Preparing for SureSmile® Clear Aligners
During your first appointment, Drs. Mark and AnneMarie Benage will evaluate your smile to see if you are eligible for clear aligners. During this inspection, our clinic will check for the following:
- Clean Dental Record: We will check to make sure there are no existing dental issues like gum disease or cavities to be treated that may interfere with treatment.
- Commitment to Dental Upkeep: Clear aligners require you to follow a specified cleaning and treatment schedule and attend multiple follow-up appointments.
- Complex Orthodontic Needs: Clear aligners are built for mild to moderate orthodontic treatment. More drastic treatments will require methods outside of clear aligners.
If you have any reason to feel apprehensive about using clear aligners, let us know during this appointment. We will take these factors into consideration while determining your personal eligibility for SureSmile® clear aligners.

Living with SureSmile® Clear Aligners
Orthodontic work can sometimes cause a change in routine and lifestyle. Below are some frequently asked questions about adjusting to SureSmile® clear aligners. If you have any other questions about using clear aligners, Benage Dental Care is happy to offer assistance.
How Often Should I Wear the Aligners?
It is important to consistently wear your aligners for efficient and precise results. Most patients will need to wear it for about 20–22 hours a day on average, but Drs. AnneMarie and Mark Benage will instruct you on how long to wear your aligners each day.
Are Clear Aligners Painful?
Clear aligners may cause initial discomfort while your teeth are adjusting to the fit. This minimal discomfort often diminishes after the first week. As the treatment progresses, the aligners will become more comfortable to put on.
If you are experiencing any prolonged pain, be sure to bring it up during one of your follow-up visits.
How Do I Manage Soreness with Aligners?
While you are adjusting to the clear aligners, here are some tips to help ease any soreness.
- Apply an ice pack to the area where you feel the most discomfort
- Wear the aligners exactly as instructed by our dentists
- Drink cold water to help ease your teeth and prevent a dry mouth
- Take over-the-counter pain relievers to help reduce soreness
Do I Need To Change My Diet?
SureSmile clear aligners require no diet restrictions or adjustments once the aligners are removed. Feel free to eat and drink throughout your treatment while following the set schedule for wearing your aligners as determined by Drs. Mark and AnneMarie Benage.
Be sure to only drink clear water while the aligners are placed in your mouth. Drinks other than water can stain your aligners and make them more prone to damage. Additionally, always clean your teeth before placing your aligners back in your mouth.
Playing Sports with Clear Aligners
Clear aligners make it easy and comfortable to participate in physical activity. Feel free to keep the aligners in while playing low-contact sports such as basketball or running.
For more hard-contact sports, such as football, we recommend replacing the aligners with a mouthguard. Mouthguards can help protect your teeth from damage. If you’ve experienced dental damage from contact sports, let Drs. Mark and AnneMarie Benage know as soon as possible.
Keeping a Straight Smile
Using clear aligners is only the first step in creating a straighter smile. As you go out with your new smile, keep these recommendations from our dental clinic in mind:
- Wear Your Retainer: After your new smile has been set, we will give you a retainer to keep your smile in place. Be sure to wear the retainer as instructed by our dentists.
- Keep Up Dental Habits: Brushing and flossing can go a long way in maintaining your dental health and keeping your smile straight.
- Schedule Frequent Visits: Damage from tooth and gum disease can cause crooked or misaligned teeth. Avoid this risk by scheduling biannual dental visits.
